Trash Mountain
Trash Mountain is a nearly 100-panel, three-page, fully-animated GIF comic with an original soundtrack. I crafted Trash Mountain as a personal proof of concept for longform narrative GIF comics, a medium I'd played with through journalism, but wanted to take in a more creative direction. I produced the entire project before receiving any formal art or animation training, blending digital 2D animation, 3D elements, and composited live footage.
Trash Mountain was very warmly received, earning a number of write-ups from both local and international arts publications, a repost by the legendary author of Understanding Comics, Scott McCloud, and a Giphy Artist of the Day feature. I also recieved an invitation to deliver a special guest talk about the project and GIFs as a narrative medium for the Local Sightings Festival at Seattle's Northwest Film Forum.
