Kelton Sears

Hi! I'm stop motion and 2D animator based in New Orleans, LA. I work in clay, foam, illustration, After Effects, Photoshop, and Dragonframe, to craft animated music videos and shorts. I also fabricate giant wearable puppets and floats for local parade krewes.

I began animating during my time as the Culture & Comix Editor at the Seattle Weekly newspaper, where I developed a multimedia style of GIF comics journalism combining interview footage and hand-drawn elements. I continued pursuing the idea with Trash Mountain, my first fully hand-animated narrative GIF comic, consisting of over 100 GIFs. The project received write-ups in both local and international press, and invitations to present and curate GIF-based events in Seattle, WA. I followed it up with a very vertical new GIF comic, Tree Talk.

After leaving Seattle Weekly I began working as a content producer/animator at DigiPen, a four-year college for game development, animation and computer science, where I develop interactive and animated marketing materials for the school.

Most recently, I animated a clay and foam stop motion music video for Telehealth's new Sub Pop single, "Mindtrap," releasing early 2024.
